One of the basic organic raw materials, used in the manufacture of various organic products such as methyl chloride, methylamine and dimethyl sulfate. It is also the raw material of pesticides (insecticides, acaricides), medicines (sulfonamides, synmycins, etc.), and one of the raw materials for the synthesis of dimethyl terephthalate, methyl methacrylate and methyl acrylate.

1. One of the basic organic raw materials, used to manufacture various organic products such as methyl chloride, methylamine and dimethyl sulfate. It is also the raw material of pesticides (insecticides, acaricides), medicines (sulfonamides, synmycins, etc.), and one of the raw materials for the synthesis of dimethyl terephthalate, methyl methacrylate and methyl acrylate.
2. The main application field of methanol is the production of formaldehyde. Formaldehyde can be used to produce adhesives, mainly used in the wood processing industry, and secondly used as a treatment agent for molding compounds, coatings, textiles and paper.
3. Another main use of methanol is to produce acetic acid. The consumption of acetic acid accounts for about 7% of the global demand for methanol, and it can produce vinyl acetate, cellulose acetate and acetate, etc., and its demand is closely related to the demand for coatings, adhesives and textiles.
4. Methanol can be used to manufacture methyl formate, which can be used to produce formic acid, formamide and other fine chemical products, and can also be used as insecticide, fungicide, fumigant, tobacco treatment agent and gasoline additive.
5. Methanol can also produce methylamine. Methylamine is an important aliphatic amine. It uses liquid nitrogen and methanol as raw materials. It can be separated into monomethylamine, dimethylamine, and trimethylamine through processing. It is one of the basic chemical raw materials.
6. It can be synthesized into dimethyl carbonate, which is an environmentally friendly product and is used in medicine, agriculture and special industries.
7. It can be synthesized into ethylene glycol, which is one of the petrochemical intermediate raw materials and can be used to produce polyester and antifreeze.
8. It can be used to make growth promoters. It can greatly increase crop production, keep branches and leaves fresh, strong and luxuriant, and will not wither in summer, and can greatly reduce irrigation water, which is beneficial to the growth of dryland crops.
9. Methanol protein can be synthesized. Methanol protein produced by microbial fermentation using methanol as a raw material is called the second-generation single-cell protein. Compared with natural protein, it has higher nutritional value, and the crude protein content is much higher than that of fish meal and soybean. It is also rich in amino acids, minerals and vitamins. It can replace fish meal, soybean, bone meal, meat and skimmed milk powder.
10. Methanol is used as a cleaning and degreasing agent, MOS grade is mainly used for discrete devices, medium and large-scale integrated circuits, and BV-Ⅲ grade is mainly used for ultra-large-scale integrated circuit technology.
11. Used as analytical reagents, such as solvents, methylation reagents, and chromatographic analysis reagents. Also used in organic synthesis.
12. Usually, methanol is a better solvent than ethanol, and can dissolve many inorganic salts. It can also be mixed with gasoline as an alternative fuel. Since the 1980s, methanol has been used to produce gasoline octane number additive methyl tert-butyl ether, methanol gasoline, methanol fuel, and methanol protein, which has promoted the development of methanol production and market demand.
13. Methanol is not only an important chemical raw material, but also an energy source and vehicle fuel with excellent performance. Methanol reacts with isobutene to obtain MTBE (methyl tert-butyl ether), which is a high-octane unleaded gasoline additive and can also be used as a solvent. In addition, olefins and propylene can also be produced to solve the problem of resource shortage.
14. Methanol can be used to produce dimethyl ether. In addition to being widely used in daily chemicals, pharmaceuticals, pesticides, dyes, and paints, dimethyl ether also has the advantages of easy cleaning, high cetane number, good power performance, and less pollution. Easy to pressurize into liquid, easy to store and other fuel properties. A new type of liquid fuel made of methanol and dimethyl ether in a certain proportion is called alcohol ether fuel. Its combustion efficiency and thermal efficiency are higher than that of liquefied gas.
